Our organisation was started in 1996 by David Patterson, a father of a child with disabilities who was frustrated by the lack of facilities for his son.  We grew quickly and became a registered charity in 2000.  In 2006 we were awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award for voluntary service by groups in the community.

We have a fantastic group of volunteers whose aim is to make your visit as happy as possible.

Sara Bateman is our Lead Project Officer and is always happy to help in anyway she can.

Gateway Wheelers is managed by a dedicated group of Trustees who are committed to the development of the charity.
