Frequently asked Questions

Are Gateway Wheelers cycling again?

Yes, we cycling again in Houghton Rectory Park.  Our cycling sessions are a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  10am, 11am and 1pm. Due to the limited number of staff and volunteers available at the moment our Darlington sessions have been put on hold for the time being.

What is the Gateway Wheelers doing to stop the spread of Covid 19?

Gateway Wheelers wants to make everyone’s cycling experience as safe as possible from Covid 19 this includes members, volunteers and staff. To achieve this our cycling sessions must be ran differently. We ask that you book a place so we know you are coming, All bikes are cleaned after every use and hand sanitiser is available.  you will also see staff and volunteers still wearing masks in the Barn area.

Is there a yearly membership fee?

Due to the financial pressure on Gateway Wheelers caused by Covid 19, we have had to take the hard decision and reinstate our yearly membership fee of £5 individual or £10 family. This is to be paid at your first cycling session.

Is there a cost for using a bike?

Gateway Wheelers has received funding for our kids club, this means you only need to pay our yearly membership and then the kids club is free to attend.

We are still applying for funding to help with our other sessions.  Therefore until this comes through we have had to take the hard decision to introduce a £5 per bike fee, per session. As you can imagine this was a very hard decision to make, however it is needed to help Gateway Wheelers with the financial running of the charity.

Can I pay by cash or card?

Cash only. Unfortunately, our payment system is in its early days, Therefore we can only accept the correct amount of cash on the day.  We are looking into alternative payments methods for future sessions.
